You may not be aware that there are several different methods of heating a pool. The basic methods are:
- Electric
- Natural gas
- Oil
- Propane
- Heat pump
Based on a swimming pool 15’ (4.57m) x 30’ (9.14m) with a required water temperature of 28oC and a swimming season of May to September the estimated heating cost would be:
- Heat Pump (ZS500) – £364
- Electric – £2,050
- Oil – £1,480
- Propane – £1,361
- Natural Gas – £701
The figures above are calculated using the following energy costs:
Electric: £0.13 per kW/h
Propane Gas: £1.00/kg
Natural Gas: £0.04 per kW/h
Oil: £0.80 per litre
It looks like a bit of a no-brainer, doesn’t it? The Zodiac Heat Pump ZS500 is much more economic than any other method.
